Family Friday
Today we were blessed to spend time with Phillip's family. They came over for dinner and we all played the game "Apples to Apples". This was a new game the kids received for Christmas. What fun! You can play up to 10 players so most of us played. We laughed and had a great time. This is a game I highly recommend for family fun. After playing games we sat and just talked and caught up with each other. It was a great evening. The boys got rather sleepy and so we eventually had to call it a night. It is nice to have family so close by.
Wednesday-Happy Birthday!
Phillip has always had to endure a birthday the day after Christmas. This year it was actually planned and ready. He loves german chocolate cake and so the girls made him one. I think they did a great job!
As Phillip is slowly but gracefully aging the kids sang a different rendition of Happy Birthday to their dad.
Happy Birthday, Oh Happy Birthday
Death, Destruction in the air
Doom, Depression everywhere,
But, Happy Birthday, Oh Happy Birthday!
Phillip just laid his head on the table and told the kids "Your killing me!" LOL
Even though his children think him to be getting so old, He still has it in him to blow all the candles out!
Presents are always good. Here he gets his new bible. He "misplaced" his last one and so is very grateful to have a new one!
The kids love handing out presents and are very proud of what they gave him.
It was a good birthday and we thank God for allowing us to celebrate another year with the gift that Phillip is to us.

Visit from Grandparents
We were blessed with a quick visit from Grandmommy and PawPaw.
When all was said and done, we had a wonderful Christmas. We enjoyed family, fun and friends. We missed not seeing my side of the family but I was able to talk to Mom and Dad for awhile on Christmas day and they filled me in on their celebrations.
Praying that all have had a wonderful day of celebrating and family. But, mostly, we pray that you have all remembered the tremendous gift that God gave us on that very first Christmas day. Thank you Lord, for the gift of Jesus!

Christmas Morning
We have always had a tradition of having a Nativity set minus Jesus before Christmas. The kids would know it was Christmas when Jesus appeared in the manger. They are old enough that this is just tradition now, but they still want to see it on Christmas Morning.
Mom's nativity
Early Christmas Morning all the kids were awake but Daddy wasn't. Here is their solution!
Jesus' Birthday Cake
Happy Birthday to Jesus.
The reading of the Christmas Story from Luke 4
Stockings always come first.
Chocolate Oranges are always a hit!
We also pre-bought movie tickets to "National Treasure: Book of Secrets" to see later in the day. I think they were excited!
C's humor. It's a stocking, right?
Mom and Dad got stocking stuffers too!
All of the kids wrapped their presents to the others all by themselves this year.
This is what it is all about. Seeing joy on the faces of those you gave to.
Priceless
R bought this gift for me and wrapped it sometime ago and couldn't wait for me to open it.
The kids picked presents out for Phillip too. Here he is with his new "Beverly Hillbillies" DVD's.
Anybody who knows me knows I love penguins. Here is are the gifts from the kids.
R was very pleased with his gift for Dad, as was Dad
Merry Christmas to all!

Jesus' Birthday Cake
We also make Jesus' birthday cake on Christmas Eve to celebrate his birthday the next morning. We always have His birthday cake for breakfast. We sing Happy Birthday to Jesus, have breakfast and then open presents. Here they are working on it.
Some needed a little bit of help with all that icing!
The finished product.
It has a tree to represent the everlasting life we have with Jesus. An angel who was the messenger that announced His birth, the 3 crosses that were a foreshadowing of what was to come, then the name Jesus with the J in the form of a cross. The cake was chocolate to represent our sins and had white icing to represent the purity we receive from Christ when He covers our sins completely.
